Tapiwa Makore Snr Convicted Of Murdering Nephew In Murewa

High Court Judge, Justice Munamato Mutevedzi has found Tapiwa Makore (senior) guilty of murdering his seven-year-old nephew, Tapiwa Makore (Junior) on the night of September 17, 2020 in Murewa.

The boy was gruesomely killed and his body dismembered for suspected ritual purposes.

Justice Mutevedzi said prosecutors proved beyond reasonable doubt that Makore Snr connived to murder him with his herd boy Tafadzwa Shamba.

During the reading of his judgment, Justice Mutevedzi said the two convicts “left their bold and luminous footprints on the crime scene”.
Makore Snr and Shamba will be sentenced on July 12, 2023 for the heinous act.

Tapiwa was killed for ritual purposes after he went missing and was discovered dead with his body dismembered and the head missing.

The rest of his body parts were recovered end of November 2020 together with other bones and skulls in a toilet at Tapiwa Makore’s (Snr) homestead.

They were positively identified through DNA tests.

His torso was buried on March 27, 2021 without its head whose location is still a mystery.

When police investigators launched a full probe into the murder Thanks Makore, another uncle and Maud Hunidzarira were arrested as suspects.

However, the two were acquitted for lack of evidence at the close of State case. Nhau/Indaba
