Two More Nabbed For Murewa Violence

Police have arrested two more suspects in connection with a case of political violence following the alleged assault of elderly supporters of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in Murewa last Friday.

National Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests.

“Reference is made to the ZRP’s press statement dated 10 January 2023. The ZRP confirms the arrest of two other suspects, Paul Kachigu (34) and Dignity Nadzo (31) in connection with the case of alleged political violence which occurred in Murewa North on January 6, 2023,” he said.

This brings to three the number of suspects that have been picked up by the ZRP in connection with the Murewa violence.

Sixty-seven-year-old Never Chimutashu, a resident of Bhunu Village in Ward 4, Murewa North was the first suspect to be arrested in connection with the case and is still in police custody assisting with investigations.
