Cimas Health Group has launched the iGo Recipe Book, a comprehensive guide designed to inspire healthier eating habits and promote wellness.

The event, held at the Cimas head office in Borrowdale, Harare, on Friday, emphasized the significance of nutrition in achieving optimal health.

The recipe book, curated by a team of dietitians and culinary experts, features 30 recipes that aim to simplify healthy eating. Speaking at the launch, iGo Dietitian Kudzai Vere addressed the misconception that healthy food is dull and unappealing.

“We have put together a collection of 30 recipes to demystify the myth that healthy food is boring,” she said.

The iGo Recipe Book is part of Cimas Health Group’s broader efforts to empower individuals to make healthier food choices. It provides step-by-step instructions, nutritional guides, and easy-to-follow recipes suitable for cooks of all levels.

Head of iGo, Dr. Willmore Kapuyanyika, highlighted the book’s role in combating noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.

“The initiative aligns with Cimas’ mission to inspire healthier communities,” he said.

Dr. Kapuyanyika explained that the recipes are designed to promote balanced eating habits and help prevent and manage conditions like high cholesterol, obesity, and kidney diseases.

The launch featured live cooking demonstrations by chefs who prepared selected recipes from the book, including a creamy Strawberry Smoothie, Baobab Smoothie, and Zucchini Brownies. Attendees had the opportunity to taste the creations and engage with experts on the importance of nutrition and wellness.

Dr. Kapuyanyika also unveiled plans for a mobile kitchen equipped with modern cooking facilities, which will bring nutrition education and healthy cooking practices directly into communities. “This mobile kitchen marks a transformative step forward, enabling us to expand our services beyond traditional settings,” he said.

The iGo Recipe Book is available in both digital and physical formats, ensuring accessibility for a wide audience. According to Dr. Kapuyanyika, the resource is ideal for food enthusiasts and those eager to explore new, nutritious dishes.

The recipe book aligns with the objectives of Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3), which seeks to “ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.”

By encouraging individuals to adopt nutritious eating habits, Cimas aims to lower the incidence of diseases and reduce the demand for medical interventions.

Launched in 2016, the iGo brand has been central to Cimas Health Group’s mission to promote preventive health and lifestyle modifications. The brand emphasizes the importance of balance in life and encourages members to take proactive steps toward their well-being.

The launch of the iGo Recipe Book marks another milestone in Cimas Health Group’s journey to improve public health. Attendees left inspired to incorporate healthier food choices into their daily lives.

“Eating right and exercising are the keys to a healthy lifestyle,” Dr. Kapuyanyika said in his concluding remarks. Nhau/Indaba
