A teenager is part of seven illegal drug dealers that were nabbed during a night time raid by the Police in Glendale last weekend, Nhau/Indaba has learnt.
Of the seven, two were females and an assortment of dangerous drugs was recovered from their homes.
Their arrest follows a recently launched operation in Mashonaland Central dubbed ‘No to drugs’.
Sources told Nhau/Indaba that a crack team from Mazowe comprising of members from the Duty Uniform Branch, Police Intelligence and the Criminal Investigations Department pounced on the unsuspecting dealers between midnight Friday and 4am Saturday.
The crack team first pounced on a ‘drug queen’ identified as Tsitsi Makombe of Tsungubvi who was caught off guard leading to the recovery of 30 packed sachets and a plastic bag full of unpacked loose dagga.
Seven sachets were recovered on her TV stand in the dining room while the other 25 and the plastic bag were in her mother’s bedroom, reportedly without her knowledge.
The team proceeded to Rusell Nyirongo’s place residing in the same area and recovered 4 x 100mls of Broncleer Cough Syrup, 2 x 100mls Salterpyn cough Syrup, 1 x 100mls Benylin Cough Syrup and 12 sachets of dagga wrapped in a plastic bag.
They were reportedly stashed in his bedroom under the bed.
The teenager, named as Tonderai Nope (19) led to the recovery of 17 crystal meth sachets and two others containing marijuana.
Police also recovered three twists and two sachets of dagga from one, Elwin Nyandere.
The last three identified as Stanley Mushambi, Delroy Chipani and Brenda Jackson were in possession of small amounts of either marijuana, cough syrup or crystal meth.
After the raid, the culprits could not produce permits or licences authorising them to be in possession of or dealing with drugs leading to their arrest and detention at Concession police station.
Police have since launched a national drug blitz following the worrisome increase of drug and substance abuse especially among youths, which has become a cause for concern following soaring numbers of mental health issues among the group. Nhau/Indaba
