Tugwi-Mukosi master plan: 25,000 hectares to be put under irrigation

8 Sep 2020
GOVERNMENT says it is expediting the finalisation of the Tugwi -Mukosi dam Master Plan to ensure irrigation begins within the next year.

Following its completion and subsequent official commissioning in 2017, expectations were high that the Tugwi-Mukosi dam would start being utilised given its strategic importance to the country’s food security.

However, concern remains high with the crafting and implementation of the master plan taking too long.

The Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement, Dr Anxious Masuka told ZBC News in Masvingo that the master plan is now being expedited to ensure that the water will be put to good use by next year. – zbcnewsonline
