Mupfumira’s Bid For Scrapping Of Bail Conditions Fails, Trial Date Set

Former Cabinet minister Prisca Mupfumira’s bid for the scrapping of her bail conditions hit a snag after placing the application before the wrong court when she appeared for routine remand at Harare Magistrates court Monday.

Mupfumira through her lawyer Sylvester Hashiti had applied for the court to scrap her bail reporting conditions stating that it has been over 15 months before her trial date was set.

The State led by Michael Reza said it had no ability to respond to the application, citing that she could only make the application at the High Court which granted her bail.

Her trial date together with ex-NSSA director for Contribution and Collections, Barnabas Matongera, was finally set for next month from 18 to 20 November.

They are facing charges of criminal abuse of office ion allegations of flouting tender procedures concerning a housing project in Gweru. Nhau/Indaba
