A PERFECT DEMAND

Simba SC chasing striker Chikwende’s signature

By Ray Munyoro

Tanzanian giants Simba SC are reportedly facing competition from domestic nemesis, Azam, to land Zimbabwean striker Perfect Chikwende.
The FC Platinum forward is expected to leave the country today for trials at Simba.
However, sources close to the development told Nhau Sport that Azam are keeping a close eye with a possibility of hijacking the deal.
“Perfect is on demand. Simba SC are interested but Azam do not want to see their rivals reinforcing and they are prepared to hijack the deal. Besides they see him as a good addition to their squad which has Prince Dube already.
“But what is certain is the player is leaving FC Platinum for trials in Tanzania. It’s more of a formality because Simba are impressed. But it’s most likely the player will choose Simba for Champions League football, but anything is possible especially if money comes into play,” revealed the source.
FC Platinum press and liaison officer Chido Chizondo confirmed interest on Chikwende and that he is set to leave the club for Tanzania.
“We can confirm he (Chikwende) is set leave for Tanzania. Simba have placed their offer, while Azam are also interested,” said Chizondo.
“At this stage, we are waiting to hear the results. It’s not yet confirmed which club he is heading to.”
Simba, who are reported to have offered US$55 000, were impressed by the 27-year-old in their CAF Champions League first round first leg against the Zvishavane miners.
Chikwende tormented the visitors’ defence, scoring the only goal of the match though the Tanzanians managed to overturn the result.
Simba won 4-0 at home to progress to the group stage of Africa’s premier club competition.
Simba are also assessing two other Zimbabweans — CAPS United’s Ian Nyoni and defender Kevin Moyo — as they work on bolstering their squad for the Champions League mini-league. Nhau/Indaba
