Harare magistrate Bianca Makwande is expected to receive results of a mental assessment she invoked on MDC Alliance’s Harare West legislator Joanna Mamombe in terms of section 26 (2) (b) of the Mental Health Act this morning.
Makwande commuted her to Chikurubi Maximum prison a fortnight ago so that she is assessed by two government medical doctors so as to determine whether her mentality renders her fit to stand trial on allegations of faking her abduction in the company of her colleagues Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova.
The results of the tests are also going to determine the setting up of a trial date concerning the allegations, as the State will be able to give a guided decision basing on their outcome.
Yesterday the Harare High Court ordered her release from Chikurubi Maximum prison where she has been incarcerated for mental examinations in the past two weeks. Nhau/Indaba
