The 250 or so decent rooms that the town of Kadoma has to offer have all been snapped up ahead of the Kadoma Music Festival scheduled for tomorrow where superstars Jah Prayzah and Makhadzi are set to perform.
Some hotels, particularly Odyssey, the venue of the festival, had already started pitching tents to accommodate as many people as possible Friday evening, with 24 hours to go before the show.
A source privy to the goings-on told Nhau/Indaba that the tents were to allow fans coming from out of town but without accommodation, a few hours of rest so that they do not drive back fatigued.
“We wish our town had more rooms to accommodate everyone. Our wish is that people get rest before driving back because these roads can be treacherous, that is why we have hired these tents,” she said.
“Kadoma has between 200 and 250 usable rooms. But of course there are others that are not recognised by the authority (Zimbabwe Tourism Authority) – but the truth is all decent accommodation is gone. People will just have to party and then get a little rest either in cars or tents then head back to wherever they came from.”
She said the venue itself has so much to offer in terms of recreational facilities.
“Rooms will definitely open up on Sunday. Those who will decide to stay a day longer can enjoy Odyssey’s various pleasures including chilling in the pool or at the pool side since temperatures here can be unforgiving.”
Makhadzi and part of her team jetted into the capital this evening and were quickly whisked away to Kadoma where she is expected to spend the night before embarking on tour of the mining town tomorrow.
She will also have a meet and greet before taking to the stage later in the evening.
Besides her own hits, some of which she has not performed locally, the 24-year-old has a collaboration with Jah Prayzah which was dropped slightly over 48 hours ago but has amassed over 200 000 views. Also on the line-up is ExQ, DJ L-Roy and Marcy Janyure. Nhau/Indaba
