Police have confirmed that Pius Jamba who was arrested Thursday morning killed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist Moreblessing Ali.
Jamba who was on the run was arrested at Chidamoyo area, Magunje in connection with the callous murder.
“Initial investigations have established that Pius Jamba killed Moreblessing Ali after dragging her from Chibhanguza Shopping Centre, hid the body in a bush and went to his parents homestead. He took a kitchen knife and a sack and went back to the bush,” police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said in a statement.
Jamba is alleged to have cut the body into pieces and made several trips to the well where he eventually dumped the body.
Nyathi said police were still investigating whether Jamba acted alone or in connivance with other suspects. He will be appearing in court soon.
He ruled out any political links to the shocking circumstances.
