Mysterious Fires Drive Bindura Man To Commit Suicide

A Bindura man allegedly killed himself after being accused of causing mysterious fires that reportedly burnt down 57 huts at two neighbouring farms in Bindura, Nhau has learnt.

Last Friday, the fire burnt down 27 huts at Burnridge farm barely two months after another mysterious fire destroyed 30 huts at Ledbury Farm’s Torero compound leaving nearly 20 households grounded.

According to sources, the two bizarre incidents left residents shell-shocked leading them to seek the services of a traditional healer to cleanse the area.

As a result, an elderly man, Almeda Geos (61), was pin-pointed for possessing goblins that were causing the fires.

However, these allegations led Geos to commit suicide by drinking an unnamed poison.

Mashonaland Central Provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Naison Dhliwayo, confirmed the incident.

“A 61-year-old resident, Almeda Geos killed himself by drinking poison after a traditional healer that was invited to cleanse the area the following day nabbed him for possessing goblins.

He died on admission at Bindura hospital,” he said.

A/I Dhliwayo appealed to the public to seek police or counsellors’ guidance in times of psychological and social problems. Nhau/Indaba
