Seke legislator, Munyaradzi Tobias Kashambe, has come out guns blazing, blaming the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) membership in his constituency for stocking fire by labeling the late Moreblessing Ali’s death as politically motivated.
Ali, who had been reported missing and had her dismembered body parts found in a well in Nyatsime, has been a topical matter since her disappearance, with political parties (particularly Zanu PF and CCC) pointing fingers at each other for her demise.
Kashambe, who is also the Zanu PF secretary for finance in Mashonaland East province, yesterday visited Ali’s residence in the company of his party members to pay his respects.
He told journalists he was disappointed by the conduct of CCC supporters who were singing derogatory songs, chanting party slogans and turning the funeral wake into a political gathering.
“They (CCC) want to hijack the funeral ceremony calling it a Zanu PF murder, but who is Moreblessing anyway?
“CCC has vibrant (known) activists we can look at, not her. This was a domestic issue and that must be corrected. We call upon that party to take heed of our President’s call that we want a peaceful and violent-free Zimbabwe as opposed to the violent mode that they want to engage in.
“We know of their mechanisation, their dirty tricks and political grandstanding as well as the handlers who fund them.
“As Zanu PF we know we have to defend our party,” said Kashambe who argued Ali’s death was as a result of domestic violence emanating from a promiscuous relationship.
The Zanu PF delegation handed over foodstuffs for the funeral Wake under the Maoresa Funeral Policy banner.
Among the goods they brought was mealie meal, sugar, cooking oil and bread.
Meanwhile, the ZRP has called for calm as they investigate circumstances that may have led to the death of Ali.
By the time of publication, a number of teams that include CID Forensics, Homicide, Studio, Law and Order, Canine and Support Unit had been to the scene to gather evidence pending further investigations. Nhau/Indaba
