Sikhala Denied Access To Lawyers, Vehicle Impounded

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala was allegedly denied access to his lawyers for over three hours at Harare Central Police station this afternoon, Nhau has learnt.

Further, Sikhala was reportedly denied access to food brought by his wife to the station. It is also alleged that police impounded his wife’s car, leaving her stranded.

Party spokesperson, Advocate Fadzai Mahere, confirmed Sikhala’s ordeal.

“The police have impounded the vehicle… his wife no longer has a vehicle to use.

“The reason for this is yet to be made clear. This persecution must stop,” said Mahere.

Award winning journalist Hopewell Chin’ono also confirmed the developments.

“Detained Zimbabwe opposition CCC MP Job Sikhala’s lawyers were denied access to see him for 3 hours. His wife was also denied the right to give him food to eat, the worry now is that his medication requires food.

“His car which his wife was driving has been impounded by the police,” Chin’ono said.

Sikhala was arrested last night for allegedly inciting violence which took place in Chitungwiza’s Nyatsime area during CCC activist Moreblessing Ali’s funeral wake. Nhau/Indaba
