The boy yet to be identified is believed to have tried to cross the road and Kanovhedhi, who was allegedly speeding, could not brake in time to avoid the fatality.

He died on the spot after sustaining a deep head cut, broken left leg, and bruises all over his body.

Kanovhedhi’s car has been impounded at VID Bindura with a deformed bonnet.

Insp Mundembe appealed to drivers to be sober-minded whenever driving and to drive at safe speeds, especially during the Easter and Independence holidays when the movement of people will be very high

“We urge motorists to always respect other road users by abiding by road rules and regulations, speed thrills but kills,” he said. Nhau/Indaba
