National Braai Day Revives Party Memories

Thousands who thronged Old Hararians Sports Club last Saturday had a memorable measure of pomp and funfair during the Castle Lager national braai day.

Merrymakers… Thousands turned up for the 2022 Castle Lager National Braai Day held at Old Hararians Sports Club

This is Zimbabwe’s biggest braai and booze fair hosted by Delta Beverages annually and was unable to take place the past two years due to Covid-19 restrictions that were in place.

Running under the theme, “Our Beer, Our Braai and Our Friends”, the feat lived up to its billing as revellers and merrymakers enjoyed every set piece that was part of the feast day “all brought together by a Castle”.

Those who attended the event showed off their latest summer fashion wear which paraded some of the world’s most revered designer wear.

People started trickling into the venue as early as 10am while the braai stands were still being heated up and beers being packed into chillers.

True to Delta spokesperson Patricia Murambinda’s words before the festival, it was not a day to be missed.

Talk of meat, talk of booze, everything was available in excess and affordable to the pleasure of many as both young and old mingled making it a real family show.

Those working at alcohol vending stalls had a hard time trying to serve every demand from thirsty revellers who wanted more and more booze to satisfy their delight.

Zim dancehall crooners Enzo Ishall, Freeman, Nutty O and Winky D, thrilled fans who were trying to outclass each other with the latest dancing styles on offer throughout out the venue.

To add variety, DJs Naida, Etherton B, Made Her Believe, DJ Andile Brown and Abisha Palmer were at their peak and kept revellers hooked to their tunes that varied from yesteryear classics to the latest vibes across all genres.

Their tunes kept revellers grooving and off their feet all night as they would chip in even at every interlude.

Large crowds that thronged the venue made the US$10 general access ticket look as the venue was only accessible by parting with a dollar.

Even the VIP arena was packed after merrymakers forked out a cool US$50 to get a ticket and enjoy what was reserved for them. Nhau/Indaba
