South Africa-headquartered electric vehicles manufacturer Agilitee Africa has unveiled plans to roll-out 20 000 electric delivery scooters by December, with Zimbabwe set to receive part of the consignment.
Zimbabwe is set to receive its allocation of the motor bikes in the next few weeks, after a test-run was conducted in Harare in May this year.
Early this year, Agilitee Africa opened shop in Zimbabwe after establishing a distribution centre in Harare.
In a statement, Agilitee Africa founder Dr Mandla Lamba said:
“We have been drip-feeding the market, but now we are going full-scale in delivering these cost-effective electric motor bikes. We believe that these scooters are convenient for the people of Africa because they do not use fuel, allowing users to save on fuel costs.
“These vehicles are also environmentally friendly, in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals to promote clean energy.”
Unlike regular motorbikes that use fuel, Agilitee’s electric scooters, dubbed Agilitee – Loadex use electric batteries that are charged at range of 70km per charge.
