All Set For Mat North Agricultural Show

The Matebeleland North Agricultural Show will be held from September 29 to October 3 this year with exhibitors and visitors expected to fully adhere to the Covid-19 regulations, Indaba has learnt.

This year’s theme will be dubbed “Rising from turbulent times and sustaining growth in and beyond Covid -19″.

Matabeleland North Agricultural Show Society executive chairperson, Praise Moyo said the society is looking forward to have new players exhibiting this year following the show’s failure to exhibit last year due to the pandemic’s restrictions.

He said all Covid-19 regulations will be strictly adhered to with free testing at the entrance point, while hand washing and sanitizing points would be erected at all the exhibiting stands.

“We are expecting a high turnout of exhibitors as the Covid -19 pandemic and its induced lockdowns failed us such an opportunity last year.

“We are going to be very strict on masking up and sanitization. At this point we are yet to decide on whether to restrict the unvaccinated or not preferring to adhere to social distancing, masking up and testing at the entry point. There will be a mass testing exercise for all the exhibitors before the kickoff and fumigation of stands and screening. “

“We are still engaging the district Covid -19 response team and the Ministry of Health and Child Care for some free tests,” Moyo said.

Moyo promised that a lot of exciting activities have been lined up and his organisation was looking forward to invite the Agriculture minister Anxious Masuka or Richard Moyo the resident minister as the main guests.

He said the society is in a drive to commercialise the showgrounds and they were engaging interested companies that might want permanent stands to come on board and develop them.

“We are moving on to commercialise the show grounds. Those who need permanent stands for their business and offices are welcome. Currently there is a permanent restaurant and bar operating.

Entry fees have been pegged at US$2 for adults, US$1 for children while exhibiting space will be available at $US5 per square metre. Indaba
