In what appears to be a new wave of bizarre sexual abuse upon the girl child, another nine-year-old girl has been confirmed pregnant in Mashonaland Central.
This comes barely 72 hours after a Tsholotsho girl of the same age became the country’s youngest mother after being raped. She gave birth to a baby girl at United Bulawayo Hospitals through cesarean section Monday after a team of specialists were deployed to monitor her while hospitalised.
Her father, the prime suspect, is in police custody assisting with investigations
Permanent Secretary for Mashonaland Central Provincial Affairs and Devolution Timothy Maregere confirmed the latest development to Nhau/Indaba.
He said that the girl has been admitted at Bindura Hospital under the care of social workers and is six months pregnant. She is believed to be from Kambira area along the Mt Darwin–Bindura Road.
A source who spoke to Nhau/Indaba on condition of anonymity said the girl was brought to the hospital by her teachers on Monday.
