Harare Magistrate Stanford Mambanje today failed to deliver his bail ruling for MDC Alliance legislator Joana Mamombe and youth leader Cecilia Chimbiri due to administrative commitments.
Mambanje had told the duo that his judgment would be ready by this afternoon after hearing submissions from both the State and defence but failed to complete it after attending to another case.
The ruling is now set for tomorrow at 9am.
Their defence led by human rights lawyer Charles Kwaramba submitted that they were being persecuted for being members of the country’s biggest opposition party and that the charge was defective.
However, the State represented by Audrey Chogumaira argued that they were unsuitable candidates for bail as they were committing more offences while out of custody on bail for other matters pending before the courts. Nhau/Indaba
