Controversy surrounds this year’s Zimbabwe School Examination Council’s (Zimsec) Ordinary Level exams following the leakage of another paper at Bikita Fashu High School in Masvingo, Wednesday.

This report comes shortly after this year’s Mathematics Paper 1 was leaked at an unidentified school in the country prior to Tuesday’s exam.

A police memo seen by Nhau/Indaba confirms that an alert invigilator at the school, identified as Eustina Mugadza (53) reportedly caught a candidate copying prepared answers from a hand written paper during yesterday’s examination.

She then took the paper to the headmaster Mr Hapias Madziro who immediately made a Police report after alerting Masvingo’s ZIMSEC Regional Manager, a Mr Dandira.

Investigations done after the incident revealed that the candidate received the paper from a fellow at Pamushana High School. Upon further interrogation it was discovered that he had also received Mathematics Paper 2 which was set for Thursday morning.

“Further investigations revealed the candidate also received a soft copy suspected to be Mathematics Paper 2 which was supposed to be written on the 20th of October 2022 between 9am and 11.30am,” it reads.

Upon further questioning, the candidate confessed that he had received the question paper from a friend at Domboshava Visitation Makumbi, Harare.

In a statement on Tuesday, the examination body urged examination stakeholders to guard jealously the integrity of Zimbabwe’s examinations after confirming the Mathematics Paper 1 leak.

“The Police Forensic Laboratory is on high alert to reveal anyone who is sending or receiving the question papers, therefore candidates are warned to refrain from participating in this malpractice so as to avoid cancellation of results due to collusion,” Zimsec said. Nhau/Indaba
