Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist and boxer Amiri Njawala has been remanded in custody after he allegedly assaulted ZANU PF’s Ward 6 shadow councillor Richard Mondoka.

Mondoka is also the former provincial referees chairperson for Mashonaland Central.

The State led by Getrude Mayenyoso alleged that on 15 September, the former MDC –T Mashonaland Central Youth league chairperson saw Mondoka at Chipadze shopping centre around dawn and approached him.

He reportedly asked him why he supported ZANU PF before slapping him several times with open hands on his cheeks and later kicked him between the legs leaving him wriggling in pain.

After beating Mondoka, Njawala went on to attack Clive Lungu who was reportedly wearing a scarf woven in colours of the national flag.

He is alleged to have clapped Lungu several times on his cheeks accusing him of supporting the ruling party while reprimanding him from doing so.

“Ndiri kukurovera chinhu chawakapfeka icho, ndimi murikuzviita varakashi 4ED,” he shouted during the attack.

Magistrate Ruramai Chitumbura remanded him in custody to October 6 for the continuation of his hearing. Nhau/Indaba
