A 15-year-old teenager allegedly committed suicide after conniving with his 12-year-old girlfriend to fake a pregnancy so that she could elope, Nhau/Indaba heard.
Chikasha added that as the relationship heightened, the two lovebirds allegedly had sexual intercourse twice during the affair.
He told Nhau/Indaba that the two lovers hatched a plan for the girl to tell her parents that she was pregnant so that she could elope with him.
The girl complied and went to announce the news of the alleged pregnancy as a result of the affair to her mother.
In turn, the mother took her to the boyfriend’s residence for confirmation where he was questioned by his father over the matter.
He confirmed the news before dashing to his room where he allegedly took unidentified pills before consuming them.
This led the parents to rush him to Bindura General hospital where he was pronounced dead.
After the incident, the girl reportedly ran away from her parents only to be found yesterday.
A report was made at Chiwaridzo police station.
Chikasha urged parents to preserve a close relationship with their children and seek counselling if misunderstandings arise.
“Parents are encouraged to maintain a close relationship with their children. They should listen to problems facing their children and seek counseling before making impulsive decisions,” he said. Nhau/Indaba
