New Twist To Rushwaya’s Case …CIO involved in sophisticated crime

Security personnel at RGM lnternational airport turned off Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) monitors to enable Henrietta Rushwaya easy passage with undeclared gold destined for Dubai, a Harare magistrate has heard.

State prosecutor Garudzo Ziyaduma told the court that it took only four minutes for Rushwaya to complete all check in formalities, revealing that the syndicate is actually wider.

The prosecutor also revealed that investigations have been scaled up and some of her accomplices will be brought to court tomorrow.

“There is evidence that Rushwaya attempted to bribe two officers who had arrested her and this has a determination on whether she should be granted bail or not.

“Other personnel were involved in assisting her to smuggle the gold and one is a member of the Central lntelligence Organisation (CIO) and another who masquerades as an operative of the same organisation,” he said.
