Former Makomo FC, Mpumalanga and ZPC Hwange diminutive attacking midfielder Lloyd “Matsatsatsa” Chimuchenga is geared to take up a new challenge by undergoing trials in the Malta BOV league, Indaba has established.

The 31-year-old player, who was the first Zimbabwean to feature in the East-Central Africa Burundi league while turning out for Musongati FC last year, is currently unattached but holed up in Tanzania where he is training with Dodoma FC.

In a telephone interview with Indaba, Chimuchenga said his agent Leend Kelder is working on the move to this new territory.

“I am hopeful on this move to Malta and my agent Kelder is working on those logistics. I am geared for the new challenge and I hope I can play well like in Burundi where I was part of the Musongati FC winning team that clinched the President’s Cup’

“I am currently unattached but training with Dodoma FC in Tanzania. I feel I still have many more years ahead of me which can even amount to a decade,” said Chimuchenga who is gifted with skill, electrifying pace and power in the field of play.

He was instrumental in the team gaining promotion into the ZIFA Southern Region Division one league that year.

Chimuchenga had previously turned out for Mpumalanga FC (2012) and ZPC Hwange (2013) before joining Makomo.

After leaving Makomo, he had a stint in Namibia when he turned out for Julinho FC and walked away with the Best Foreign Player Award in 2019.

Chimuchenga, a product of Churchill Boys High School, made his international debut in 2006 when he featured for the Zimbabwe Under-17 national team against Reunion playing alongside the likes of Knowledge Musona, Abbas Amidu, Lincoln Zvasiya and Derrick Chipeta.
