Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo has pledged a staggering $150,000 and a car to celebrated musician Jah Prayzah in response to the backlash the artist faced after publicly praising him.
Chivayo, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and generous handouts, declared his intention to “bless” Jah Prayzah for enduring criticism from fans over a heartfelt New Year’s message dedicated to him.
In his social media post, Chivayo playfully referred to himself as “Chiranga Mapenzi” (one who deals with critics) and announced that he would be giving $10 for every one of the 15,000 comments on Jah Prayzah’s criticized post. “The total comes to $150,000, which I will give to Jah Prayzah in hard cash,” Chivayo said. He also revealed plans to gift the award-winning artist a car as an additional token of appreciation for his loyalty.
This declaration comes after Jah Prayzah’s effusive praise for Chivayo triggered backlash from his fans, who questioned the singer’s decision to glorify the businessman despite his controversial reputation.
In his New Year’s message, Jah Prayzah lauded Chivayo as a generous and kind-hearted individual, describing him as a “blessing to the nation” for his support of orphans, widows, and the underprivileged.
The post, while well-intentioned, sparked outrage, with many accusing Jah Prayzah of turning a blind eye to the corruption allegations surrounding Chivayo.
Fans argued that the businessman’s high-profile donations often distract from the ethical concerns about his business dealings and sources of wealth.
However, Chivayo has remained unfazed by the criticism, opting instead to reward Jah Prayzah for enduring the public backlash. “They criticized Jah for respecting me, but I will show them that standing with me comes with blessings,” Chivayo said.
