Tongai Matutu, the former MDC T legislator for Masvingo Central, has joined ZANU PF.
Matutu said the opposition party has lost direction as it is now wasting precious time bickering among themselves.
He was welcomed to ZANU PF by President Mnangagwa and the two Vice Presidents Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi at State House in Harare, Monday.
President Mnangagwa said he felt elated in welcoming back “home” Matutu.
Briefing journalists, Matutu said he was not joining ZANU PF because he was desperate but he was guided by his conscience and was convinced that his decision was the best choice not only for him but for the nation.
This comes as Government spokesperson Nick Mangwana has been lambasting the opposition MDC-A for failing to properly run town and city councils around the country.
“Our towns have been turned into rural areas. Councils have let the people down,” said Mangwana, before adding a derogatory hashtag, “#DysfunctionalCouncils.” Nhau/Indaba
