Provincial Head magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti Guwuriro has sentenced the trio of Arnold “DJ Fantan” Kamudyariwa, Chillspot Records co-founder Tafadzwa “Levels” Kadzimwe and Simbarashe “Dammer” Chanachimwe to 12 months in prison.
The trio will, however, spend six months behind bars after the magistrate suspended half of the sentence for good behaviour by not wasting the court’s time.DJ Fantan, Levels and Dammer pleaded guilty to partaking and convening a public gathering during a national lockdown in contravention of section 5(3)(a) of the Public Health (Covid-19 Prevention and Containment) Regulations of Statutory Instrument 77 of 2020 when they appeared in court Tuesday.The trio held a mammoth New Year’s Eve bash at the grounds adjacent to Block 14 Matapi, Mbare on December 31, which was attended by thousands of people.
They were arrested over the weekend and appeared in court Tuesday during which magistrate Guwuriro deferred sentencing to today. Nhau/Indaba
