Foreign Affairs Minister SB Moyo Dies


Dr Sibusiso Busi Moyo, the army general that sensationally announced the November 2017 coup that toppled Robert Mugabe has reportedly succumbed to Covid-19.
Nhau spoke to a close aide of SB Moyo this morning, who confirmed that indeed the revered soldier was no more.
This came after several posts on social media seemed to suggest that the minister had passed on after testing positive for Covid-19 two days ago.
SB Moyo had been unwell for some time, after going down with kidney failure a few months after the Second Republic of Emmerson Mnangagwa came to power.
He was subsequently in and out of hospital.
Dr Moyo, a war veteran, became famous for announcing the coup that toppled Robert Mugabe from power in 2017. He subsequently left the army where he had risen to the rank of major general to join active politics.
A third born in a family of eight, Moyo was born in 1960 at the Mnene Mission Hospital in Mberengwa. He was the husband to Justice Loyce Matanda Moyo who is the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission chairperson.
Dr Moyo held two Masters’ Degrees, a Master in International Relations Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and an MBA from ZOU. He also held a Ph.D. in International relations from the University of Zimbabwe. Nhau/Indaba
