A 37-year-old Chipadze man appeared at the Bindura Magistrate’s court facing allegations of insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa at a police station where he had gone to report an assault case.

Stephen Jumbo was arrested at Chiwaridzo police station last Friday and was hauled to court for the offence where he was remanded out of custody to May 19.
Representing the State, Carson Kundiona alleged that on the day, Jumbo arrived at Chiwaridzo Police Station at around 2pm and made an assault report.
While his statement was being recorded, he saw President Mnangagwa’s portrait on the wall in the charge office before pointing at it allegedly shouting, “Uyu Mnangagwa ndakamuvenga ane hutsinye. Muri kuisirei munhu iyeye ipapa haana kana basa rese, dai anga ari Chamisa better.”
“Ini handisi munhu weZANU PF, mune hutsinye. Mese mapurisa ari muno mune hutsinye muri maZANU PF”.
After his speech, the tables immediately turned against him and he was arrested.
He, however, denied the allegations before Ms. Joseline Mudhenge who presided over the matter and released him on ZW$100 000 bail. Nhau/Indaba
