Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala will finally taste freedom after a Harare court sentenced him to a two year jail term which has been wholly suspended, Tuesday.
The court also handed down the same sentence to his co-accused Godfrey Sithole, former Chitungwiza North lawmaker.
Their sentence is a result of their conviction last week on charges of inciting violent clashes that broke out in Chitungwiza’s Nyatsime area in June 2022 after CCC activist Moreblessing Ali was abducted and slain by convicted and jailed Pius Jamba on May 24, 2022.
Sikhala had been languishing at Chikurubi Maximum prison for the past 595 days after all his attempts to be released on bail hit a brick wall. Nhau/Indaba
