‘Grade 7 results will be out in time’

Parents and guardians should not be worried about students who sat for the 2020 Grade Seven examinations as results will be availed timeously, Nhau has learnt.
Zimbabwe School Examination Council (Zimsec) public relations manager Nicholette Dlamini told Nhau that everything was now in place with marking set to begin this week.
“Marking is starting this week. Examination results will be announced thereafter,” said Dlamini.
“It has been stated that children will return to school on the 9th of February so definitely the results will be out by then to allow for the processes that pertain to Grade Seven. We know that they need to go on e-MAP (electronic Ministry Application Platform). So we will have that done.”
On fears of exposing markers to Covid-19, which now has new variants, Dlamini said the safety of all markers was guaranteed as there are strict protocols that will be followed through stipulated standard operating procedures (SOPs).
“This is not our first time marking. We actually ran an examination in June right in the middle of the lockdown and Covid-19, and our examinations were marked. We will follow the exact procedure that we followed then.
“If those who are engaged in the marking follow procedures and protocols we have put in place, we hope that will contain the situation as we did in June.”
Dlamini cleared fears by parents and social media users who had begun to worry as marking had not yet started.
This followed concerns on how the e-MAP system would be utilised in time to secure places for boarders when the school term begins.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education proclaimed Monday January 4, 2021 as the date for the opening of schools for the first term in 2021. Form ones and lower six students are going to resume learning by the 9th of February. Nhau/Indaba
