Actor Lazarus Boora popularly known as Gringo will be buried today at his rural home in Rukweza village, Rusape.
Gringo succumbed to stomach cancer on Monday at Westview Clinic in Zimre Park after a long battle which robbed the showbiz industry of great talent.
The doctor who was attending to him, Dr Johannes Marisa, said the stomach cancer had spread to other parts of the body, making it difficult to contain.
“Gringo had stomach cancer which had already spread to some parts of the body,” he said. “It seems he suffered a lot in the past months, but didn’t know about his condition. It was too late for us to save him.”
Government through minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa described him as a man who kept people going.
“Lazarus may have left us, but he will forever be remembered as our dear Gringo, a man who brought joy and laughter in our homes. May his dear soul rest in peace.”
He is survived by wife, Netsai and seven children. Nhau/Indaba
