Police have confirmed the death of six people last night after a haulage truck hit pedestrians at the 36km peg along the Harare-Mukumbura road before overturning.
Through its official Twitter handle, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the accident took place at around 8pm.
According to the report, the driver was traveling due north with four passengers aboard and failed to negotiate a curve before veering off the road to the right running over the pedestrians along the road.
After hitting the pedestrians, the truck overturned and landed on its roof. Consequently, four of the pedestrians and two passengers on board died on the spot.
Five others including the driver were injured.
Police will release the names of the deceased in due course. Nhau/Indaba
