Felistus Kwangwa, the player who signed for England’s Vitality Super league side Surrey Storms, ends her mandatory self-isolation to become the first Zimbabwean in that league.

She has already signed a kit deal and will then be cleared to join her teammates for pre-season ahead of the February resumption.
“I’m so excited that in three days-time, I will be out of quarantine and able to have my first session,” Kwangwa said this week.

The 2020 Vitality Superleague season was cancelled as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic outbreak.

Despite the difficult financial situation, the clubs still found a way to stay afloat with some resorting to government support.
But now all the teams are geared for the upcoming season with finalisation of squads underway.

“I’m almost there and I thank God for that,” Kwangwa said.
Kwangwa had already impressed the English side, but the Gems ranking outside the top 12 had kept her in the cold.

After the rise in rankings, at the back of great performances by the team, the doors opened up for her to make history.

“I look forward to meeting my new teammates. So, for the past days I have been trying to make sure I keep my body in shape. I have been doing a lot of work-outs on my own to ensure I keep my fitness levels.”

Kwangwa may not be the last of Zimbabwean player that will move abroad.
Indications are that a number of her teammates are on the spotlight since they announced themselves at the last Netball World Cup in Liverpool. Nhau/Indaba
