A 23-year-old Bindura man is expected to appear in court on Monday facing charges of malicious damage to property and physically abusing wife over watching an African Movie.
State prosecutors said on February 19 this year Patience Paul (20) of A105 Chipadze Street was watching television when she was approached by her husband Lawrence Mandaza (23) asking why she was watching an African Movie.
A misunderstanding arose between the two and in the midst of the argument, Mandaza broke the television (Plasma 21 inch) by kicking it.
After destroying the television, Mandaza went on to beat Paul all over her body and pushed her against the wall.
It only took his friend’s intervention to stop Mandaza from beating his wife.
Paul sustained a swollen face and does not wish to be medically examined.
Value of the destroyed property amounts to $US90. Nhau/Indaba
