Injured Kadoma DDC & Others Freed

Kadoma Bureau
Kadoma magistrate Paul Mudonhi, on Tuesday granted Sanyati District Development Co-ordinator (DDC), Amigos Mhlanga and his co-accused persons ZW$30 000 bail following their arrest for allegedly holding an unsanctioned meeting on pirate taxis (mushikashika) at Fitt Square, in the city Monday.

Mudonhi also ordered them to report once every fortnight to Kadoma CID Law and Order section, further remanding them to March 15, 2023 pending continuation of their hearing.

Other conditions include residing at their given addresses and not interfering with further investigations or witnesses in the matter.

Among  Mhlanga’s co-accused persons were well known ZANU PF activists, Tsitsi Mutariswa, Lenin ‘Cde Lenny’ Samhembere, Enia Tshuma, Hilda Kamunda, Tinashe ‘T1’ Murambwi, Onward ‘Baller’ Bhebhe, Susan Nyameni, Size Phiri, Ruth Kachepa and one Mahwebo.

All these reportedly hold positions of authority in the party structures at different levels.

The unfortunate Mhlanga had to attend court nursing wounds after being assaulted by police details from Kadoma’s District Reaction Group (DRG) while clearing the illegal meeting.

Several of his accomplices were also left with bodily injuries and attended court with blood-stained clothes.

It is alleged the meeting was convened after some unnamed individuals had taken it upon themselves to ‘organise’ the city’s pirate taxis into what they termed ‘a well managed system’.

The gustly organised gathering resulted in Mhlanga and his accomplices being detained after being summoned by those seeking an audience for the organizing of what they termed ‘smooth operations of pirate taxis(mushikashika)’, in the city.

The skirmish is understood to have been precipitated by cash wars over the control of ‘mushikashika’.
