Inmates Escape From Prisons In Mutoko, Lalapanzi: Police

Two prisoners have escaped from correctional facilities in Lalapanzi and Mutoko, police said.

Peter Sigauke, 23, escaped from a jail in Lalapanzi near Gweru on September 19, while Tinashe Rupiya, 22, broke out of prison in Mutoko.

National police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Sigauke was serving a prison sentence of 48 months after a conviction for “plain robbery.”

Police did not provide further information about how the prisoners escaped.
