Kadewere fine run hailed, Warrior tipped to succeed in England

Tino Kadewere continued with his fine form in the French Ligue 1 after his solitary strike earned Lyon maximum points.

But it was the quality of his play and work rate that had pundits running out of superlatives to describe his artistry with the ball.

They agreed that the Zimbabwean will succeed if he eventually made it into the English Premier League, which is known for its hard tackles and tough play.

The Zimbabwean fired home from close range in the 80th minute as Les Gones beat Angers 1-0 in a league encounter.

It was a fourth goal of the season for the 24-year-old who is currently enjoying a purple patch.

The result also saw Les Gones climbing the standings to second place, four points behind leaders PSG who have 24. Kadewere had missed a glorious opportunity earlier in the first half and coach Rudi Garcia emphasised on the need to be clinical in front of goal.

Garcia, however, praised his side’s overall performance.
He said it was encouraging that Kadewere grabbed one of the chances that came their way.

“When you have the opportunity, you take it and that’s a good thing. You also need to know how to be clinical,” said Garcia.

“We were very sound in the defensive side of things. We should be able to be strong more often as we have been today (Sunday). It had been a long time since I had seen such a pitch. I’m amazed. Those who came on were in the right frame of mind. They brought something to the team, that’s what we ask of them.”

The French tactician also bemoaned fatigue since most of the players were coming from an international duty that had more than one game.
Kadewere was in action for Zimbabwe in their back-to-back AFCON qualifiers against Algeria. He was on target in Warriors’ 3-1 defeat away in Algiers.

“We knew that some players would get tired after the international break. You have to be careful with them so as not to injure them,” he said. Nhau/Indaba
