Mapeza Appointed Warriors Coach

Norman Mapeza has been appointed interim Warriors coach, Soccer24 can reveal.

The 49-year old, who is currently at the helm of FC Platinum, will take over the national team on an interim basis, and oversee the remaining World Cup campaign.

Mapeza takes over from sacked Croat, Zdravko Logarusic.

The former Galatasaray midfielder will according to sources at ZIFA be assisted by Taurai Mangwiro and Mandla Mpofu, while Energy Murambodoro will be the goalkeepers’ coach.

The appointment in the national team set-up is his fifth after his first stint as the caretaker coach in 2007 then on an interim basis again in 2010.

His first substantive role came in 2011-12 before returning five years later as a caretaker coach at the beginning of the 2019 Afcon Qualifiers.

In most recent spell saw him taking charge of the famous 3-0 victory over Liberia at the National Sports Stadium in Harare to begin the 2019 Afcon Qualifiers. Soccer 24
