New Clothing Brand For Farmers

Young agronomist Rudolf Mabuya (28) recently launched a new clothing brand in Harare targeting farmers throughout the country.

Named Farmfit, the new clothing line is meant for both field and office wear.

Mabuya is hopeful that his new clothing line which was founded in December last year will dominate both the local and international markets.

Speaking to Nhau, from his base in Chitungwiza, Mabuya said farming was a business and people in the industry should look presentable when propagating it.

“Zimbabwe’s economy is agro-based and it contributes a lot to the gross domestic product (GDP). So people in that industry must look presentable both on the field and when conducting business off-field.

“They must dress fashionably, that is why I decided to design the clothes suiting their sector.”

The clothing range comprises shorts, overalls, waistcoats, shirts, shirt-dresses, t-shirts, sun hats, queen and king shirts.

Mabuya was inspired by his farming background and weaknesses he noted in dress codes during agricultural field days.

“My experience in the field of agriculture inspired me to design clothes for people in the farming industry. I realised that a lot of people find it difficult to dress for different occasions such as field days or meetings, so I decided to venture into the fashion world to solve their problems.”

Agriculture is one of the main sectors earmarked to attain Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 and any value addition and beneficiation of the industry is critical.

The youthful agronomist added that he is not limited to agriculture but willing to design clothing for the mining, construction and tourism sectors in the near future. Nhau/Indaba
