Newborn Baby Kidnapped Last Week Found Alive

The family of a newborn who was abducted at a shopping centre in Harare’s Avenues area last week has reported that the baby has been found alive.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the home in Murombedzi, about 100 kilometres from Harare and discovered Tamiranashe Chadwick.

ZTN News reports that the suspect escaped, and her husband is “assisting police with investigations”. Speaking to ZTN this Tuesday, Tamiranashe’s grandmother Euna Mbuyatembo said,

“We were called to Murombedzi Police Station last night. We went there (on Tuesday morning) and managed to positively identify the baby.”

It is alleged that the suspect lied to her husband that she had given birth at Harare’s Belvedere Maternity Home.
