It’s the October shutdown weekend and several gigs are lined up throughout the country. Below is what to expect:

Winky D Serenades Gwanda
Zim dancehall king Winky D descends on Gwanda this Saturday at Phoenix Shisanyama supported by Mc Mtkay Ntwana, Mc Gibbons and many others. Ordinary tickets R100, VIP: $20 and VVIP: $50.

On Sunday Winky D, Trevor D and Feli Nandi shut down October with a family show at Jongwe Corner, Harare from 2pm till late. Admission: Kids: $5, General Tickets: $10 and VIP:30.

Sulu Croons In SA
Dendera exponent Suluman Chimbetu and the Orchestra Dendera Kings kick off the weekend at Marcopolo Ranch (483 Boundary Road, North Riding A H) tonight. Entry: R100 and VIP: R200.

On Saturday the Dendera crew perform at Jabula Pub & Grill. Ordinary tickets are R100 and VIP R200. Come Sunday, Sulu and the Dendera perform at Willas Lounge and Grill in Pretoria wrapping up the weekend. Admission: R30 and VIP: R100.

Summer Bash @ Werras Park
Contemporary music superstar Jah Prayzah and the Third Generation band clash with veteran singer Progress Chipfumo and Cymplex Sound tonight in Glenview. They will serenade fans with a gig dubbed “Summer Bash” at Werras Park (Glenview 1 Shops) from 6pm till late. Admission: $10.

This Saturday, Jah Prayzah, Feli Nandi and MC Abisha Palmer shut down the Nyanga Arts Festival which roared into life yesterday. The show takes place at Montclair Hotel. Admission: Advance ordinary tickets $15, Gate $20, VIP Advance $30 Gate: $35.

Freeman In Cape Town
If you are in Cape Town this weekend and you happen to be a Zim dancehall fan, then you cannot afford to miss this massive live performance by HKD Boss Freeman, who has a string of new hits off his latest offering ‘David and Goliath’. He is currently on an album promotion tour and will be alongside Bazooka and Boss Pumacol at Parrow Civic centre in Cape Town.

On Saturday, Freeman and his band take the album tour to Port Elizabeth’s G & G Hall in Cape Town.

DJ Tira, Killer T, Takura @ Wood Garden
South African DJ Mthokozisi Khathi aka DJ Tira, Zim dancehall chanter Killer T and hip-hop star Takura, are set to perform at Wood Garden this Friday. Admission: $5 and VIP: $10.

Tomorrow, the Shona Prince (Takura) performs in the City of Kings and Queens backed by resident DJs, Keezy AM, Teflon El Don at Cosmopolitan Night Club.

Kurai Makore, “Mhofela” Album Launch
Chimurenga music crooner Kurai Makore and Afro-Jazz musician Darlington “Mhofela” Tanganyika will this Sunday launch their albums at Club Africa (cnr Worbun and Swan Benoni) in Durban supported by Rasta Kwasa musician Dino Mudondo.

Mbeu @ Londoners Sports Bar
Afro-fusion artiste Mbeu and the Mhodzi Tribe perform tomorrow at Londoners Sports Bar (Strathaven shops) in Avondale.

Andy Muridzo In Ruwa
Talented Afro-fusion artiste Andy Muridzo and his Jeetaz Band perform at Leisure Centre opposite Ruwa Golf club from 6pm till late on Saturday. Admission: Cover Charge.

Reggae Explosion
Reggae lovers are in for a treat tonight as African reggae musician Mannex Motsi and the ZimReggaestra band perform live at Londoners Sports Bar.

Tomorrow Mannex will take the reggae vibe to Chop Chop in Waterfalls from 6pm till late. On Sunday, the band performs at Glass Bar n Grill in Norton.

CookOut October Edition
Celebrate Zim’s summer through good food, music and great vibes this Sunday. It will be a time to get-together with family and friends at Alex Sports Club. Admission: $5 VIP: $10.

Zimbabwe Colour Carnival
It is that time of the year, where we celebrate colour. Colour can affect mood and draw attention. The Zimbabwe Colour Carnival will be on this Saturday at Borrowdale Racecourse. Entry Fee: $10 and Kids: $5. The event will be packed with a lot of activities including fitness sessions, games, a fun run, and various thrilling competitions.

Untamed Halloween
Dress for the occasion this Saturday for the “Untamed Halloween” concert to be held at Emagumeni Helensvale shops in Borrowdale from 12pm till late. Don’t miss out DJ MadeHerBelieve’s performance. Admission: $5 and VIP: $10.

Fun Day
Harare Gardens Children’s Park hosts International Day of the Girl Child this Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Admission: $5 covering all activities including face painting, jumping castles, team building, bubble popping, horse rides, Zumba and many more!
