Nine Months Jail Time For Mai TT

Comedienne Felistas Murata, popularly known as Mai Titi, will spend the next nine months in prison after being convicted for fraud and theft of trust property.

For the offence, she was sentenced to 12 months in prison, however six months were suspended on condition she does not commit a similar offence.

Murata, whose lawyer believed was a suitable candidate for community service was dealt a huge blow Tuesday, after it was discovered that she was an unsuitable for the lighter sentence.

During the vetting process for her eligibility, it emerged that she defaulted on 105 hours community service eight years ago, after being convicted on assault charges.

Hence, another three months were added to the sentence and she will effectively serve nine months behind bars. Nhau/Indaba
