Songstress Pah Chihera says she will keep her love life a secret despite recently telling her multitudes of followers on social media that she is now engaged.
The Runonzi Rudo hit-maker’s update saw her fans congratulating her though some expected her to reveal her lover.
However, in an interview with Nhau, Pah Chihera said that an update is enough and she will never reveal her lover.
“Well, just like everyone else, celebrities or artists have love lives too. I received a number of congratulatory messages with some expecting me to reveal my fiancé’s name but I will not do that,” she said.
“I am a person who is not comfortable sharing such issues with the public. Of course, my fans could have learnt of the development that I am now engaged after that Facebook update but I think it has to remain like that. But, yes, it’s no longer a secret that I’m engaged.”
Pah Chihera said at the moment she is concentrating on her musical career though she bemoaned the Covid-19 pandemic.
She has since collaborated with Botswana contemporary musician, De General, on two songs as she targets to penetrate the international market.
The duo is now working on a video for one of the songs, Kumafaro. She said the song is part of her efforts to stamp her authority beyond borders.
“I always believed in collaborations, combining forces has always been good for me. So this time around I was engaged by De General from Botswana and after discussing a few issues we decided to do the song and it’s now out.
“We are now working on the video though it is difficult due to coronavirus restrictions, obviously some of the scenes wanted us to be together,” said Pah Chihera.
The song is about a woman rebuking her husband about his cheating habits.
“It touches on one of the most topical issues, cheating. If you listen, it starts with a narration of a woman who caught her man red-handed in their matrimonial bed with another woman,” she said.
Speaking to Nhau from Botswana, De General showered praises on Pah Chihera describing her as the princess of African music.
“First of all I want to put it on record that she is the princess of African music and in my personal view the best female vocalist in Africa.
“She is talented, professional and very respectful. Combining these traits with her amazing voice earned her my attention. By the way I looked for her, she didn’t look for me.
“Give us a fortnight and we will have videos. If it wasn’t for Covid-19 the videos would be out by Friday this week. Music has no borders. Look at a border as a political line between countries,” said De General. Nhau/Indaba
