Police Border Blitz Nets 8 000


Police have arrested over 8 000 people for failing to declare their goods and using illegal entry points at the country’s ports of entry, Nhau has learnt.

Following the arrest of 8 299 people in an operation targeting the country’s borders, the Zimbabwe Republic Police has issued a stern warning to violators of the country’s ports and declaration laws.

“Members of the public are warned from using unauthorised ports of entry or exits and failing to declare their goods.

“On 15 March 2021, Police arrested 182 people for violating the Immigration Act on operation “No to Cross Border Crimes/ Fhasi Ngamilandu Yamukanoni/ Mhosva Pamiganhu Ngadzipere/ Amacala Kawaphele Emingceleni Yelizwe”.

“Since the onset of the operation on 07/01/21, 8 299 arrests have been made,” they said.

So far Zimbabwe is yet to open its borders which were shut down when President Mnangagwa announced a level four national lockdown which has since been eased following the trickling in of Covid-19 vaccines into the country. Nhau/Indaba
