Harare opthalmologist Dr Tendai Mutungamiri who was guest of honour urged graduates to implement the knowledge they acquired during their studies for the correction of the country’s declining social fabric.

“You have often heard people say knowledge is power. Knowledge is not power, but implementation of knowledge is power. You may have knowledge but have failure in implementing it. There are many people who attained knowledge in our nation but have not put it to good use,” he said.

He further called on the graduates to be agents of change that correct the ills of society.

“We are called to be change makers. We are called to make impact, to change the very fabric of society. To change and impact culture, that’s what we are called to do. Take this training to go and change the culture and social fabric of our nation.

“We are living in a nation where a lot is happening in the communities. That needs people who implement the knowledge they have acquired to bring change in our nation and move our nation forward. Knowledge in leadership, theology, strategic management and evaluation should be put to use. May we arise and build the walls of our nation Zimbabwe. You play a big part in what God wants to do in rebuilding our nation,” he said.

ITI president Dr Elias Chakabwata urged ordained leaders to respect their leaders and do God’s work with humility and servitude.

He also warned that they would get their certificates annulled if they defaulted from their mandate by tarnishing the institute’s reputation.

“I charge you today to go and transform the world that is before you, to be a true ambassador of the gospel without favouratism but preaching the word of God.

“Respect the leadership of the churches you minister and remain submitted and accountable to them. For the record we are not training deviants at ITI. If we hear any form of deviance, we will withdraw our certificates.
