Shot In The Arm For People Living With Disabilities In Kadoma’s Waverly Community

People living with disabilities (PLWD) in Kadoma’s Waverly area received hampers containing basic commodities from Ward 11 philanthropic councillor Cosmas Dhaka yesterday.

The goods were received at a time members of the community have been pinned down from fending for themselves and their families due to the Covid-19 induced lockdown which had shut down the informal sector.

Dhaka said he felt it necessary to assist those living with disabilities who had been hard hit by the effects of the national lockdown.

“What I’m doing is to cater for those people living with disabilities in Waverly. We have asked for names from the chairperson of this Constituency to be considered from Ward 11, 12, 17 and plots in the area.

We used to engage a smaller number, but, as Cossy Rules Holdings, we thought, let’s increase the beneficiaries as it is a programme specifically for PLWD,” said Cllr Dhaka.

The youthful businessman revealed that working with communities and supporting their charity initiatives was a trait in his DNA.

“From a very young age I always have a heart for assisting people. I feel touched by their plight. At one time, 2017, I paid school fees for all learners at Waverly Secondary School.”

The multi-sector investor alluded to the fact that he wishes to see people with disabilities empowered with skills and knowledge to enable them to fend for themselves and not remain clutching begging baskets.

The event, held at Cossy Rules Holdings HQ, was attended by a wide range of stakeholders in the mining city. Nhau/Indaba
