Some Destiny suburb houses built on graveyard …as workmen dig up human remains

Kadoma Correspondent
Workmen preparing to build a septic tank in the Destiny area of Rimuka had a shock of their lives after they stumbled upon human remains.

The four workmen, who wanted to set up a septic tank at a local household, had to halt their work after exhuming human remains.
The incident took place sometime in 2020.

“We stumbled upon human skeletal remains when we wanted to construct a septic tank at the home of one of our clients. Our job is plumbing which involves septic tank construction,” narrated one of the workmen.

“We had to stop working. We called council authorities to assist us with what we had encountered. The bones were taken to Kadoma hospital mortuary for safe keeping. We don’t know what happened after that.”

According to the workman, a team comprising officials from city council, Kadoma General Hospital and the office of the district development coordinator (DDC) came to the scene.

Destiny suburb is adjacent to the expansive Rimuka cemetery.
The workman added that strange things were happening at that house.
“All the window panes at the house were continuously smashed anytime of the day by huge birds. This went on for some time.”

Asked to comment on the strange events, a local African Traditional Religion leader Sekuru Saizi Mtengezanwa said there was need for cleansing.

“It’s unfortunate these workmen came across those remains. It means some houses in that suburb could be constructed over a gravesite. There is need to cleanse these workmen so that they are not dogged by misfortune,” said Sekuru Saizi.

“That particular household should be cleansed, otherwise, there can be sad stories for the family or families dwelling there in future. On the part of council, the whole area has to be cleansed as well.”

Kadoma General Hospital medical superintendent Dr Kudzaishe Masendeke could not be reached for a comment at the time of publishing.
Meanwhile, grave diggers in the small community of Martin Spur, some 12 kilometers north of the city also met the same fate when preparing a grave recently.

“We found a dead person’s bones covered in a fertilizer bag after grave diggers reached waist height while excavating for a grave at Shepton Estates cemetery, near Martin Spur.

“We could not identify the person buried in that grave as there was no identification board as is usual. Diggers returned the skeletal bones into the bag, which we understand was an improvised coffin, and moved to another place to continue with their work.” Nhau/Indaba
