‘Switching On’ the festive season @ Milton Park Bowling Club

By Tawanda Matanhire
Milton Park Bowling Club will this Saturday again be the place to be as some of Zimbabwe’s finest DJs, MCs and artists converge to give the dull 2020 festive season a much-needed push.

This is the second edition of Switch On, an uptown lifestyle concept incorporating music, food, drink and good old fun in a spacious, clean and safe environment for all types of fun-lovers.

Boasting a line-up featuring Zim dancehall man-of-the-moment Poptain – the Saturday event is set to be a thriller as organisers have announced that cooler boxes will be allowed into the venue, creating a picnic event.
“2020 has been tough. We just want people to have a little fun with as few hassles as possible,” said Blessing Joseph aka Boss BJ, the brains behind Switch On.

“So we are simply saying come through and have fun with us. Bring your own favourite drink. Bring your friends and park your car in a secure parking area, and enjoy good music.”
Besides Allanah, whose collaboration with Poptain, Fadza Mutengi, is a contender for 2020 Song of the Year, the rest of the line-up is quite impressive as well.

It features Raydizz, one of the “baddest” club DJs in Zimbabwe, Langton B and DJ Andile Brown.
The combination of Yung Fresh and Abisha Palmer, will also be in the building, dishing out the best music from dancehall-reggae tunes to Amapiano and everything in-between.
For the live music aficionados, reggae crooner Mannex will also take to the stage to serenade the expected crowds, who will be asked to part with just US$5 at the gate.

Nhau Arts spoke to Big Dollar Bruce, the host MC, who said the second edition was set to take things a notch higher.
“The festive season is underway now, there is no doubt about that. People are in the mood to have fun. And creating such an environment is what we specialise in,” said the revered MC, who is synonymous with Motor Action Sundays currently being held at Hellenic Sports Club.

Big Dollar Bruce, who has also passed through Red Fox, Beer Engine and The Volt, said those who would be lucky to make the limited numbers at the event would have a time of their lives.

Also speaking ahead of the event, DJ Yung Fresh promised a worthwhile show with an “up to date and distinct set up”.
“Believe you me, there will be nothing else than a great show, different setup and different sets. New style and pattern – different from those other events that have grown tired – Ma fireworks chete-chete,” said Yung Fresh.

Presented by Mafia promotions, Switch On marks the return of Milton Park Bowling Club, yesteryear’s go-to upmarket venue for events. Boasting lush manicured loans, upgraded ablution facilities and enough tents to shield everyone from all kinds of weather elements – it appears Milton Park Bowling Club is truly back. Nhau/Indaba
