Tile Essentials Opens New Glamorous Showroom

By Robson Maenzanise

Tile Essentials, run by shrewd businessman Spencer Madziya, is taking huge strides in the construction industry after successfully opening another high-end showroom in Eastlea despite the negative impact of Covid-19 on the Zimbabwean economy.

The company, born out of Tiles For Africa, has become one of the leading brands in the supply of tiles, cladding, baths, taps and showers.

spoilt for choice

Madziya, who wears many caps including being a showbiz player and music promoter of note, is known in business circles for being an out of the box thinker. He weaned himself from Tiles For Africa to “pursue perfection in custom designing of homes and offices to suit the needs of different clientele”.

The new shop located at Number 3 Glenara Avenue, Eastlea is laden with a plethora of imported ceramic and porcelain tiles plucked from Europe and Asia.

“We have a full range of products in the shop. The tiles are from Europe, Asia and other parts of the world while some are locally made. We have sinks, tubs, showerheads and compartments of all shapes and sizes,” said a sales executive at Tile Essentials during a tour of the new showroom by Nhau/Indaba.

lighting is an essential part of every room

The upmarket mini-complex comes complete with a Lighting Centre, which houses a beautiful range of exquisite lights, chandeliers, pendants and downlights.

And to top it up – the premises are equipped with a coffee shop, Skotch Kart, serving wraps, coffee, hot chocolate and gourmet food.

“Due to the pandemic we are currently just serving take-aways. No sit in,” said an attendant.

yummy eats while you wait

The explosion currently being witnessed in the housing industry and construction of office parks, has seen a boom in the tiling business. Thus, companies such as Tile Essentials are growing rapidly.

“Our growth can be attributed to the boom in local construction, however, our greatest advantage has been our online marketing and virtual shops where people can shop from the comfort of their homes,” said Madziya.

“Also, Tile Essentials are agents for bathroomdeluxe.com, offering exclusive deals not available on the website, by import only. Exclusive taps, showers, toilets, sanitaryware and art is part of bathroomdeluxe.com’s promise to Zimbabwe through Tile Essentials.”

Tile Essentials is set to open more branches before the end of the year to try and satisfy a growing countrywide appetite for their products.

“We intend to open branches in Bulawayo and Mutare before December as we seek to give our clients in the country a better shopping experience as other clients prefer to feel the textures of the materials before they buy.”

Home building and decoration has become a status symbol in modern-day Zimbabwe, and tiles are the ESSENTIAL finish that shows the status of the home owner. Nhau/Indaba
